About DaycareScan
DaycareScan is a free public resource that aggregates publicly available childcare inspection data from official state licensing agencies into a single searchable platform. Our goal is to make it easier for parents to access and understand daycare safety records.
What We Do
We collect childcare facility data from government sources including:
- The HIFLD national childcare center location dataset
- New York City DOHMH childcare inspection data
- New York State OCFS childcare facility data
We normalize this data into a consistent format and present it in an easy-to-browse, searchable format organized by state, city, and ZIP code.
How Often Is Data Updated?
We re-import data from our sources on a weekly basis. However, there may be a delay between when a state agency publishes updated data and when it appears on DaycareScan.
What We Do NOT Do
- We do NOT rate, rank, recommend, or endorse any childcare facility
- We do NOT verify or audit the accuracy of government data
- We do NOT provide advice on childcare decisions
Important Disclaimer
All data on DaycareScan comes from publicly available government records. This data may not reflect current conditions at any facility. Always verify information directly with the facility and your state licensing agency before making childcare decisions.
