Skyrise School on Burney Drive

The following hazards were observed outside in the children's play areas: gate with latch is to low and in access to the children that leads to the street, two wooden shelves that are not mounted and pose has a tipping/fall hazard, and three sewer capped pipes that are exposed from the ground and posing a tripping hazard.

In the 18m to 24m classroom during nap time, 10 children were observed to be with one caregiver, bringing the room out of ratio by 1 child. 8 children were observed to be awake.

In the 2 to 3 yr old play area, the stationary equipment with a slide was observed to not have the required 6 feet requirement that extends out from the front of the slide and the sides.

The caregiver and child did not wash hands after diapering. This was corrected once the caregiver returned to wash hands and those of the child.

At the time of inspection, the operation had switched two infant classrooms and two toddler classrooms. No amendment was submitted so that the space could be reviewed.
