During the walkthrough I observed 10 children in care unsupervised. The caregiver was in the front office when I arrived. The second caregiver was in the kitchen.
During the inspection I observed, two caregivers alone in direct care of a children without an active background check on file.
A caregiver did not exhibit good judgment when separating two children who were fighting over toys and putting one of them into a dark closet to speak to them and calm them down. The caregiver also did not exhibit good judgment when sitting the toddler aged child on a stack of cots in the closet as the child could have gotten injured by falling off or trying to get down. The caregiver did not think to call for assistance.
Information gathered in the investigation substantiated that a child was placed in a dark closet by a caregiver after separating the child from another child to speak to them and calm them down.
The Toddler room was too dark to count the children during naptime. NOTE: The deficiency was corrected with additional lighting turned on from a closet space.
